چکیده

The book consists of fourteen chapters with an appendix and an index. Chapters 1 to 10 and 13 deals with experiments on carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, en?ymes, saliva, milk, gastric digestion, pancreatic digestion, bile, blood and urine. Chapter II deals with colorimetry and chapter 12 deals with estimations of various constituents of blood. The book will be very useful to students of biochemistry. It will also be of much help to the teachers in designing the^ practical classes. The idea of placing questions at the end of the experiments is commendable as these would encourage the students to read the tesxtbooks.

Response to review of Fundamental Laboratory Approaches for Biochemistry and Biotechnology.

John Markwell presented a comprehensive review [1] of the second edition of our laboratory manual, Fundamental Laboratory Approaches for Biochemistry and Biotechnology, which we fondly refer to as FLABBe2 ([2]. Markwell’s review was fair and provided valuable information for us to consider in future editions. It should be noted that the experiments in FLABBe2 are designed for laboratories runni...

Digitisers: their use in the entry of orders, urinalysis results, and isoenzyme interpretation in a clinical biochemistry computer system.

The processes of order entry, urinalysis result, and isoenzyme interpretation entry into a laboratory computer system is a time consuming activity. We have designed a series of forms for use with a digitising pad that allow us rapidly to enter orders, urinalysis results, and isoenzyme interpretative comments into our laboratory computer system. We have shown that digitiser entry is always signi...

Problems with the estimation of urine protein by automated assays.

OBJECTIVES Most clinical laboratories replaced their manual precipitation techniques for the determination of urinary protein with automated dye binding assays or benzethonium chloride-turbidimetric assays. Few studies have validated these assays for the measurement of urinary proteins in the normal range. DESIGN AND METHODS This study compares four automated assays for the measurement of uri...
